Coimbra iParque's mission is to create a high quality environment for R&D, work and leisure, aiming to attract companies with a technological base, introduce advanced technologies and work as a support mechanism for the development of new and innovating technological companies, born in structures specially created for the effect and that need an adequate place to establish themselves in. One of the goals of iParque is to contribute to the growth of wealth in the region, by promoting innovation and competitiveness among the knowledge-based companies and institutions. To do so, iParque wants to contribute to stimulate the flow of knowledge and technology shared between Universities, research institutions, companies and trade markets.

Coimbra innovationPark wants to follow the internationally demonstrated experience concerning the creation of Scientific and Technological  Parks. Today Science Parks represent mechanisms of great importance to stimulate the economic development. It is necessary to integrate these Parks in the regional development strategies supported by local and Governmental institutions. That is why a strategic partnership between several local and national institutions whose range of activity is relevant for iParque was established.

R&D activities will hopefully result of the interaction between the corporations directly or indirectly involved in iParque. We predict that those activities will be developed in the areas that are related to the clusters defined for iParque, such as:
